FIRST TIME DIRECTORS INITIATIVE
MTV Entertainment Studios’ (MES) First Time Directors Initiative was designed to attract the talents of a diverse group of filmmakers including BIPOC and women filmmakers. We believe our community is enriched when the stories told on screen reflect the distinct vision of independent artists from every facet of our multi-cultural community. We are seeking fresh, unique, and exceptional behind-the-camera talent.
The Initiative will hire directors with related directing experience, who have yet to direct a feature film or television episode for a major network, studio or streamer. Our goal is to find candidates to direct one of the upcoming original movies produced in the MTV Entertainment Studios that will air on one of the MTV Entertainment Group’s brands. Selection for the Initiative is based on candidate experience and strength of work, but we are also looking for unique creative accomplishments.

Let your creativity flow as you answer our questions. Yes, we need to ask for certain pieces of information, but this is not a test. This is an opportunity. There are no wrong answers; we just want to know who you are and what makes your creative juices flow.
- Candidates must be 18 years or older at time of submissions.
- Candidates do not need to be DGA members.
- Candidates must be eligible to work in the US.
- All candidates selected for in-person program participation will be required to comply with ViacomCBS safety protocols and procedures.
